She Steps Up: Catherine Hernandez
Thursday, January 29, 2026
She Steps Up is a monthly recognition series that shines a light on women in the footwear industry. The theme for this month’s spotlight is “Mentors and Educators: Coaches, trainers, and people developers who invest in others,” and the spotlight centers on Catherine Hernandez, CMF (Color, Materials, Finishes) Designer at Skechers.

Catherine Hernandez
Title: CMF (Color, Materials, Finishes) Designer
Company: Skechers
Tenure in Industry: 6-10 years
Why she was nominated: “Catherine consistently inspires those around her by openly sharing her knowledge, guiding conversations with clarity, and creating an environment where learning feels natural and collaborative.
She takes the time to teach, not because she must, but because she genuinely wants others to grow. What sets Catherine apart is the way she teaches: with patience, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun that encourages questions and collaboration. Through her daily interactions, she has helped me strengthen my skills and confidence in my role.
Her influence extends beyond individual moments—she continuously elevates the team through education, support, and example.
Much of Catherine’s impact happens behind the scenes. She consistently goes above and beyond what is visible by investing extra time and effort to ensure her work is done thoroughly and to the highest standard. She frequently stays late to meet goals and takes additional steps to think through details that others may overlook. Her dedication and work ethic set a powerful example, and her contributions often extend far beyond what is required, even when they don’t draw attention.”

About She Steps Up
She Steps Up is a new monthly recognition series from Two Ten’s WIFI Community that shines a light on women in the footwear industry whose leadership, creativity, and impact are shaping our community in meaningful ways. Whether they are driving innovation, mentoring others, making bold moves, or doing the often unseen work that keeps teams strong, these are the stories worth celebrating.
Each month, the series will feature individuals from across the industry who exemplify leadership, collaboration, and community. Nominations are welcome across all roles, experience levels, and sectors of the footwear industry, including design, HR, production, marketing, retail, administration (such as finance, accounting, and legal), and beyond. While the series centers on uplifting women, we also welcome nominations for individuals of all gender identities whose work reflects these values.
