A Celebration of Entrepreneurs, Friendship, and Losing the Guilt
This past week, a group of over 200 men and women came together at the Redbury Hotel in New York City to engage with a panel of five incredible women who truly rock. The event, which marked a first-time collaboration between Two Ten WIFI and Footwear News, featured two back-to-back panels that spoke about women’s empowerment and the importance of women supporting each other.
Guests began the evening with signature cocktails and light bites on the hotel terrace before being ushered into the main event space. The evening featured two back-to-back panels, with Libby Edelman and Footwear News publisher Sandi Mines setting the tone for the evening with opening remarks and anecdotes focused on the importance of women’s empowerment in today’s climate.
The first panel featured Susanne Botschen, co-founder of luxury brand e-commerce destinations MyTheresa.com and MarthaLouisa.com, Chloe Gosselin, creative director and founder of Chloe Gosselin, and Suzanne Rae Pelaez, founder and creative director of Suzanne Rae. Footwear News executive editor Katie Abel served as a panel moderator and covered a variety of topics including fashion trends, socioeconomic matters, and brand inspiration.
The second panel featured a discussion between award-winning actor and activist, Debra Messing and Faryl Robin Morse, CEO and creative director of Faryl Robin. This high energy dialogue between friends ranged from anecdotes of their first meeting to the importance of women feeling comfortable asking for help. Messing said. “I think now we’re trying so hard to be self-sufficient… It took me a very long time to give myself the gift of saying, ‘I can’t do that’ — and to not feel guilty about it. If you feel guilty about saying no then you’re buying into the idea that you should be able to do everything for everybody and that’s wrong.”
The evening was capped off with closing remarks by WIFI co-founder Carol Baiocchi and guests enjoying a few moments to mingle and rehash the compelling discussion.
Thank you to our partner, Footwear News, as well as all of the panel speakers and those in attendance for a wonderful night to celebrate the Women Who Rock!
