On October 19th, over 50 Women from all departments of Nike got together at the Oregon Food Bank in Beaverton for a “Women of Nike” Footwear Cares Volunteer event.
These women put on their hair nets, rolled up their sleeves and got to work lifting, labeling, sorting, weighing and bagging over 9,000 pounds of raw oats. In their two hour shift at the food bank, they prepared over 7,645 total meals, equating to 125 meals per volunteer which ultimately would go to families in need at over 190 shelters in the Beaverton area.
But it was about much more than oats. Despite the fact that they all worked at Nike, many didn’t know one another. They built stronger relationships with each other and gave back to their community in doing so. An example of Women in Footwear at it’s finest! To view more photos from the event, please click here.
