Preparing for the new year was the theme at the Portland WIFI Chapter gathering on Thursday night, January 16th, in the lobby lounge of the Woodlark Hotel downtown Portland. Women from KEEN, Columbia, SOREL, Nike, PENSOLE, and others came out to support Two Ten WIFI and gain insight from two engaging guest speakers.
Tracy Siegel, Certified Functional Nutritionist, owner of Pure Nutrition, kicked off the night with a conversation on the importance of how and what to eat in order to feel better both physically and mentally. Tracy covered techniques for detecting personal responses to foods and letting go of negative self-judgement. She educated the group on the different food groups and their interaction with the body, dispelled myths and confusion about nutrition for women and provided practical advice that will be easy to implement.
Lacey Tucker, Key Account Sales for SOREL, spoke on managing time and maximizing available tools to create workplace efficiencies. Her advice to the group included recording and scheduling everything in an electronic calendar — including time for important tasks, meeting presentations and preparation, etc.; maintain open communication with colleagues to meet individual and team goals; avoid procrastination; prioritize; and maintain optimism to “get it all done. Lacey also reminded the group to always celebrate their accomplishments, daily which is not something that women usually to do for themselves.
A big THANK YOU to Woodlark Hotel, Tracy Siegel, Lacey Tucker and our Portland WIFI Chapter Co-Chair, Marissa Ellberger from PENSOLE Academy!
