Our newest WIFI chapter in Charlotte, NC kicked things off on Wednesday, June 13th with a combination Footwear Cares volunteer shift and WIFI social event. WIFI Charlotte co-chairs Brittany Moeller and Cindy Brown planned the afternoon/early evening activities as a way to connect and engage with their female colleagues in a manner that worked for individual schedules and interests. The event served as an exciting kick-off to our newest WIFI chapter.
A fantastic group of women participated in the Footwear Cares portion of the afternoon at the Second Harvest Foodbank of Metrolina. Company participation included Rack Room Shoes/Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse, Family Dollar, Shoe Show, Keds, and Margaritaville Footwear. Volunteers sorted through pallets of donated food items to check for properly sealed packaging and to categorize “like” items. In three hours the group sorted 10,670 pounds, which is equal to 8,891 meals.
Participants were thrilled to lend a helping hand and connect with their female colleagues.
The WIFI social event that followed was a great opportunity for these women to converse over a beverage and a selection of lite bites. Participants were also encouraged to submit their ideas for future WIFI Charlotte events. The general event atmosphere was one of excitement as women shared their ideas for interesting venues, topics and guest speakers for future WIFI events.
Thank you again to the Charlotte WIFI chapter for a fantastic day!
