Last month, the RG Barry team in Columbus, Ohio organized a company-wide Week of Giving, featuring a variety of cook-offs, a raffle with incredible prizes, and an end-of-week tailgate party to raise funds for the Two Ten Footwear Foundation. By week’s end, the employees’ efforts resulted in $2,000 to help their industry colleagues in crisis.
HR Assistant Valeria Santizo shared the secret for pulling off a successful event at RG Barry, which she said is to simply “leverage our employees’ natural competitive spirit.” With that in mind, the RG Barry team organized a breakfast cook-off, a bake-off, and, in true Midwest style, a chili cook-off – and all entries were judged by a jury of peers.
For the raffle, event organizers at RG Barry sought out the most highly-coveted prizes from local vendors. In total, there were nearly 50 gift-cards and gift-baskets donated for the raffle, inspiring company-wide participation and furthering the competitive spirit.
The week culminated in a tailgate party to celebrate the Ohio State vs. Northwestern game (OSU ultimately won, with a blowout 52-3 victory) — a fitting finale to the RG Barry’s team week of fun and philanthropic spirit.
