The following is a letter from James, a Two Ten client who was helped in 2018.
In September, my wife was hospitalized with internal bleeding and was given a small chance to survive. She lost over half of her blood, her body could not carry oxygen due to lack of blood cells, and the hospital did not know if she was going to make it. Well, just for the curious or concerned she DID!!!
Unfortunately, while she was in the hospital, my son was hospitalized for a week due to a 104 temp, and dehydration from vomiting and diarrhea. So needless to say I could not go to work, I was stuck with no paycheck coming in from my wife or myself, and I was bouncing from one hospital to another. My wife has been off work now for about 1-1.5 months and has not received any short-term disability checks yet.
Last month it was not possible for us to pay all of our bills. We were living check to check and did not come close to paying half of what we owed. We called Two Ten and asked for help with our house payment. We did not ask them to pay the entire bill for us, only a portion to help us make up the difference. They asked what bills were due at the time which were, electric, car insurance, and house. They told us they would call us back the next day and let us know what was going on. I did not expect any help from anyone, because honestly, the world is slowly going downhill when it comes to people lending a helping hand.
Two Ten absolutely blew me away, they called and told us to fax all three bills to them, they let us know that they would take care of all 3 for us. I could NOT believe this, I was in shock when my wife told me. I didn’t think there were any good people left out there and Two Ten has proved me wrong.
I called my mother and grandmother to let them know what was going on and spread the word at my workplace. Thanks so much, Two Ten, and I thank God that there are still people who care about others left in this world. Your foundation is truthfully amazing, and I personally want to thank you all for helping us in a time of need. You all are the reason my house payment is up to date, we still have car insurance and have the power to write this testimony, to let you all know how awesome you truly are.
Thank you,
James
